Resting in a canyon along highway 20 about fifteen miles from 101 lies the town of Blue Lakes, California. Made known by the thriller Magic in 1978, this town is made up of young families, retirees and vacation homes.

Blue Lakes consists of two lakes Upper Blue Lake and Lower Blue Lake which together are around 125 acres. Summers here are the busiest time of year as is true with most of Lake County. There are four resorts located around Upper Blue Lake, The Lodge at Blue Lakes, The Narrows, Pine Acres and Le Trianon. These offer visitors formal lodging, RV parking, cabins and camping. Among the popular activities is fishing for trout or largemouth bass, swimming, sailing, windsurfing and if your local you probably know about the rope swings on the highway side of Upper Blue Lake.

Blue Lakes is a beautiful place to live year round, with its forest like scenery and streets lined with well kept and landscaped yards. There is a definite feeling of community in this quaint tucked away town - kids playing outside in the quite streets and neighbors smiling and waving as they drive by. People live here because they love the neighborhood and its just far enough out of town to feel like you’re out in the country.
