Just over the hill from the Napa Valley is a hidden oasis that has finally been discovered and is gaining continued notoriety and popularity as one of Northern California’s premier destinations for vacationers, retirees and homeowners alike. Lake County has much to offer and is becoming one of the most desirable places to live and visit in the Western United States. No matter what your interests are, there is definitely something for you; from water sports, fishing, and golf to casinos, concerts, world class wine tasting, hiking, kayaking, and bird watching. This is just a taste of what is attracting thousands of people to not only visit, but to make Lake County their home.
Lake County is based around California’s largest natural lake, Clear Lake, which provides endless recreational activities to its visitors and residents. In 2005 Clearlake played host to a professional wakeboard competition (Boardstock) and numerous professional bass fishing tournaments, one of which was broadcast nationwide on ESPN. Thousands of people also take advantage of the recreational side of water sports and fishing each year. For the nature lover, Lake County has some of the most abundant birdlife and wildlife in the country and boasts the cleanest air in the state of California. Many locals enjoy hiking, biking, and kayaking, which provides an avenue to really enjoy the outdoors and be one with nature. The Clear Lake State Park provides a gateway to view the native wildlife such as bald eagles, pelicans, otters, deer and numerous other birds and animals. For those who are not into the water and nature, there is plenty more for them to do as well.
